Socket replacement and repair, often instead of a whole new limb

A loose, painful socket is the commonest reason people stop wearing a good limb. Often the knee, foot or hand are fine and only the socket or liner needs changing. We check honestly and tell you what really needs replacing.

  • Honest check first
  • Parts reused where safe
  • Answered 24/7

Sockets and repairs

When the socket, not the limb, is the problem

In short

Stumps change shape for years after amputation: they shrink in the first year, and change again with weight, age and health. When the socket no longer matches, the limb rubs, slips or hurts, even though the knee, foot or hand still work well.

A new socket starts from Rs 40,000, a new liner from Rs 25,000, and small repairs such as straps, bolts and foot shells from Rs 3,000. Where the old parts are safe, we move them onto the new socket.

Stop wearing the limb and call us if

  • You hear a crack or the limb bends where it should not
  • A knee, elbow or foot feels loose
  • The limb gave way and you fell
  • A liner is torn through

A cracked socket or loose joint can fail without warning. A few days without the limb is safer than a fall.

Questions

Socket and repair questions

Ask anything else on WhatsApp or call +92 337 8414002, day or night.

How much does a new prosthetic socket cost in Pakistan?

A new socket starts from Rs 40,000 and usually costs up to about Rs 200,000 depending on the level and materials. Where safe, we reuse your existing knee, foot or hand.

How do I know if I need a new socket?

If you keep adding socks, the limb slips, or you get red marks that last more than twenty minutes after taking it off, the socket probably no longer fits.

Can you repair a limb made by another clinic?

Often, yes. Bring the whole limb and we will tell you honestly whether a repair, new parts or a new socket make sense.

How long does a socket last?

In the first year after amputation, often less than a year. After that, usually two to three years with normal care.

Can small repairs be done the same day?

Many can: straps, bolts, cables and foot shells often take one visit. Call first so we can have parts ready.

Is a new liner enough?

Sometimes. A worn liner can make a good socket feel loose. We check both before suggesting a new socket.

Talk to the clinic

Is your socket hurting or slipping?

Call or WhatsApp with photos of the limb. We will tell you whether it needs a repair, a liner or a new socket, and the likely cost.
